Meet the band

Trumpets
Meet the trumpet section: the badly behaved brass renegades who can’t resist adding spare notes, louder notes, and notes nobody asked for. They wait, ready to pounce in ballads, when you are sure to hear hyena-like cackles aplenty.

Trombones
Meet the trombone section: the Big Beer Band’s heavy artillery. Here, the slide positions are considered “approximate” at best, and a perfect glissando is usually just a lucky accident. A section where the only thing more well-oiled than the slides are the musicians operating them.

Rhythm
Meet the Rhythm section: the Big Beer Bands engine room who treat a metronome more like a friendly suggestion than a rule. The section we like to blame when it all goes wrong for the rest of us.

Saxes
Meet the saxophone section: the Big Beer Band’s front line of defense. This squad of reed-chomping maestros specialises in playing a staggering volume of notes—though not necessarily in the right order. Listen closely during the rests; you’ll likely hear them sighing and tutting in the general direction of the trumpets.
