We will be doing the regular gig 9-11. and that will be the last one until the beginning of September.

Oh No, It’s Happened Again!(The BBB Kiss of Death)

It was announced over the weekend that the Owners of the The Grape and Grain, A Company called Jack Beards has gone into administration. “what does this mean” I hear you asking yourselves under your slightly sniggering breath.

It means that he BBB won’t be back at the G & G any time soon. We only had 2 weeks to go before the summer break but this almost certainly means the BBB is homeless and destetute (again).

This is truly a record. Not only have we killed it in just 3 months. Usually we only take out the pub. But this occasion we’ve gone one bigger and bought down the owners…. Rock and Roll! erm (Jazz and Swing.. who’ Evva)

Next time we do a pub anywhere in the UK we need to see if we can take out a small village or even a county… clearly our negative karma knows no bounds!.

Shock Horror! Its Official…BBB @ the Brief dead after 3 years

The Old Brief in George street is being refurbished.
When it comes back it will not be a big music venue.
The directors at the brewery have decided to turn it into a restaurant (mmm.. nice).
So the Final week at the Old Brief for the BBB will be Monday the 1st February 2010 (next week)

So some time in march you will be able really push the boat out and take your loved ones for a delicious slap up meal at the The Old Brief, Main Street, War-Torne-Central, Beirut.
We wish the Brief the best of luck but we do have to question the cerebral capital of the pubs owners…

No matter how much you try to polish a turd it will not come up shining.

If they were to do The Bogs up with gold taps and put Persian carpets on the floor and employed a scantily clad blond to hand out hand cream.
Also Employed Gordon Ramsey or Jamie Oliver to posh up their soup in a basket and they adorned the walls with modern art and gold leaf’d everything.
…. can you honestly see the venue attracting anything more than a couple of hoodies, a lashed up business man or a couple of local chav couples.
Those they do manage to shoehorn in the door will probably do a runner.

There are music venues in that area that would love to have that back room with the sound system.. its great.

That area of Croydon does not need a half baked managed restaurant…It needs a pound shop with posh toilets which is ultimately I feel what will become of the Brief.

Any way enough rubbish from me….
The BBB Needs a new venue… Watch this space and we will find one.

Tis the Season To be Jolly and sing ones heart out.

I have decided to announce another BBB Singers Night (before our usual quarterly deadline).
On the 21st of December there will be Yet Another Singers Night…. But with a difference (middle brass: Dut, Dut Daar)
This evening of merryment will (if I can find them) contain all christmas songs.

Why, Why, why have we done this(Delilah!) I hear yo ask. Well, this year the last BBB’s Monday before Chrimbo’ is just 4 days before Santa empties his sack down your chimney. By then everyone should be well and truly in the Christmas spirit And ultimately everyone, even me… will hate serious jazz!….. bring on the schmaltzy christmas Tat!.
